Novak Hiles Architects is a design-led practice based in London. We provide a full range of architectural design services from project inception to completion.
The practice was founded by Carla Novak and Adam Hiles, who have collaborated for over a decade and bring to the practice a wealth of experience and knowledge.
We invest great energy and passion in delivering projects which are beautifully conceived and finely executed.
We strongly believe in architecture that is practical, sensitive to its context and infused with character and delight.

Carla Novak, Director
BA(Hons) DipArch MA ARB
Carla qualified as an Architect after studying at the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL and Canterbury School of Architecture, UCA where she gained a Distinction and won numerous awards including the prestigious Grossman Scholarship for outstanding creative design.
Before co-founding Novak Hiles Architects, Carla worked at a number of practices both in London and the South East, where she has gained a breadth of experience in many sectors including one-off private houses,
heritage and listed buildings as well as large scale commercial and residential schemes. Most significantly, Carla worked at the international and award winning practice Farrells (London) LLP on both residential and commercial projects, including the Royal Albert Dock masterplan.
Carla’s personal design work has been featured in the Architect’s Journal, Building Design and the New York Times as well as various exhibitions across the UK and internationally, including at the AIA in the United States. She also had her own solo design exhibition at the Dreamspace Gallery in London. Carla has also been a visiting critic at several universities including, Greenwich, London Metropolitan and Canterbury School of Architecture UCA.
Adam Hiles, Director
BA(Hons) DipArch MA ARB RIBA
Adam qualified as an Architect from the Bartlett School of Architecture UCL with Distinction and was awarded the Ross Jamieson Memorial Prize for the highest grade. Prior to this, Adam studied at Canterbury School of Architecture UCA where he also graduated with Distinction and was nominated for the RIBA Silver Medal as well as the RIBA Presidents Award for Research in Architecture.
Before co-founding Novak Hiles Architects, Adam was an Associate at award winning practice Duggan Morris Architects and then at Mary Duggan Architects. He led numerous key projects within both offices and gained a considerable breadth of experience delivering high profile projects of varying scale for a wide range of clients within the housing, private residential, commercial, education, public arts and public realm sectors.
Adam’s personal design work has been exhibited in the RA Summer Exhibition on three separate occasions. He has written for architectural publications such as Building Design and Blueprint and has previously taught a studio unit at Canterbury School of Architecture UCA. He has also been an invited lecturer at Central St Martins UAL and Chelsea School of Art & Design UAL. Adam is a RIBA chartered member.
