A sculptural building providing an artist’s studio in a backland site.

The roof form has been derived as a direct response to immediate contextual constraints, pitching away from neighbouring gardens to avoid impact.

Windows and openings have been positioned to provide access at ground from the frontage of the existing garage courtyard, maximising daylight and taking advantage of the southerly orientation.

Externally it is proposed to use a stained timber of a soft light red colour to reflect the colour of nearby buildings, and with a variation in pattern that subtly references the arts and crafts influences across the wider area.
